Hermanus

Cliffs at Old Harbour, Hermanus – A5 – Watercolour & Ink – Linda Howe-Ely

My husband and I spent two nights in this lovely Western Cape coastal town last week, and I did this sketch from the Old Harbour, which is a landmark and tourist attraction in Hermanus.

My Garden

I enjoy our small, wild looking garden and recently did this A5 sketch of part of it. We are having a drought in the Cape at the moment, and are not allowed to water the garden with hoses, so to save water we keep the plants alive with buckets of bath water.

Sketch of Table Mountain

Our hiking group held their last outing of the year under a copse of pine trees on the side of Signal Hill. It’s called a “cocktail hike” as we hike for a very short distance and carry drinks and snacks. We all chat and watch the sun go down over the sea before we walk back. I was rather antisocial as I couldn’t resist sketching the view of Table Mountain from this spot.

Sketching trip to Silvermine

In November we went on a hiking and sketching trip to the lower Silvermine Valley. It was a hot day and we sat in the shade to sketch. This is the view I chose and my half-finished sketch is in the photo below.
